Shiny Hunting part 1 of many
Greetings everyone! TTGN I here, and if there is anything in pokemon that I myself find most interesting, it's shiny hunting. On my pokemon X I've caught ABOUT 40 shinies. How I caught them? Well I'll tell you. I'm TTGN I and here is part 1 of 3 of my shiny hunting guide. And by the way, shiny delibird is good. Please don't make fun of me...
First off, get a pokemon with false swipe. In Kalos, talk to a professor in the Lumiose City research lab for the TM. For ORAS, talk to a man in the Rustboro City pokemart for the TM. Teach the TM to a pokemon of your choice. My personal favorites are Aegislash and Gallade. Aegislash for its speed and defense stats, and Gallade because of it getting the move hypnosis. Once you have this pokemon, you now need a pokemon to hunt for and your preferred method. "Which method?" You may ask. Well let me take you through my favorite methods, as of part one.
First of my favorite method; horde hunting. Additional requirements other then your false-swiper is a pokemon that knows sweet scent. Sweet Scent is a move that lets you trigger a guaranteed horde battle, UNLESS its raining. The rain mechanic luckily bothers you only in X. Easy pokemon to get sweet scent are low leveled oddish, combee, and roselia. Combee can be found in the berry farm in Kalos and oddish can be found at the neighboring route of 7's tall grass. In ORAS I reccomend route 110 for oddishs. Note: You can use sweet scent in caves, tall grass, water, and other areas where you can get encounters from walking. Example - Hoenn's Desert or Mt Pier. For this example we will be hunting for a shiny seedot. Take into consideration the chance of encountering your pokemon through horde encounter. If hunting seedot, we could look up on bulbapedia the routes it can be found at. Seedot is an OR exclusive and can be found on route 102. Next, sit in the grass, and encounter, encounter and encounter until you see those sparkles. It takes patience, like all other shiny hunting methods. If you horde hunt long enough you will gain muscle memory of getting sweet scent activated. Some tricks for this method is, put "POKEMON" at the front of your start screen. Put your sweet scenter at the front of your party, and knock them out. Put your pokemon knowing false swipe in the second slot. This way, you don't have to go through your party's last slot to use the move while your false-swiper can be sent out first. Keep in mind you have to defeat all other pokemon in the horde before you can catch anything. PAY ATTENTION WHILE HUNTING. YOU DON'T WANT TO FAIL A SHINY. I myself have failed 2 shinies out of my 40 or so. Both because I wasn't paying attention.
Now on to the next method... I wish. I'm SO SO SO SORRY, but I'm tired. It's about 10 as I'm typing this and I've been at it for an hour or so... I'll get in part 2 by Tuesday. Part 2 will most likely be friend safari... For now, have a nice day, or night. Or evening. Or dawn. Or whatever time of day it is!
